Highland City Mayor Joseph Michaelis designated this Illinois Women in Business Week during Monday's City Council meeting.

He also designated October as Community Planning Month.

During the public forum portion of the meeting, the following citizens' requests and comments were considered: Chamber of Commerce 2015 Lighted Christmas Parade and the EvUCC Annual Box Village Square Use.

Under new business, a combined annual financial report and treasurer's report were scheduled for acceptance, as were bills to abate taxes levied for 2013 general obligation sewerage system bonds, 2012 general obligation TIF Bond, 2014A Korte Recreation Center Bonds and 2014B Street Bonds.

The council also heard a motion on an ordinance declaring the city’s interest in a portion of a platted public utilities easement in Woodcrest Professional Park – Phase One Subdivision as surplus property. The motion would further release the city’s interest in that portion of the platted public utilities easement and authorize the execution of a partial release of easement

A resolution to approve a collective bargaining agreement with the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council for the Telecommunicators' Bargaining Unit was also presented, as were change orders for Insituform Technologies.
