Alton City, Illinois City Council recently released an agenda from a meeting where it covered a list of ordinances that focused on parking issues, the fire department, and local speed limits.

The council considered an ordinance made to establish a no parking zone on Beall Avenue, between East 20th Street and Franklin Avenue on the east side.

The council then discussed some deals that involved the fire department. The Fire Chief was authorized to enter an agreement with Madison County Emergency Agency for the sale of a 1992 Ford Rescue Truck and the sale of 1989 Mako air-breathing compressor.

Another ordinance, No. 7482, dealt with amending a previous ordinance by reducing the speed limit. The new limit would be 25 miles per hour on Glenn Drive and appropriate signs were to be placed throughout the road.

Finally, the council noted that the State of Illinois has limited the abilities of municipalities to deal with chronic nuisance properties. This ability had been defined in various city ordinances.
