Alton City Plan Commission held a public hearing on a residential district matter

The City Plan Commission for the City of Alton, Illinois held a public hearing recently to consider a residential district matter.

Charles Wiley, Jr. had petitioned the Alton City Council to add Motor Vehicle Towing Dispatch Centers to the Special Uses list for R-2 Single Family Residential Districts. Additionally, he wanted a special use permit in order to run a motor vehicle towing center. The property in question was 826-834 E. 7 St. in Alton.

After some discussion, the commission voted to continue the public hearing on the matter at its Jan. 5 meeting, which will start at 1:15 p.m. at the Alton City Council Chambers, 101 E. Third St.

The City Plan Commission provides a comprehensive plan of public improvements for the City of Alton. It looks at the present and future of the city, helping it grow. Mark Hackworth is the committee chair. Committee members include John Rain, Bill Stoutenborough, Joe Blair, Gary Doerr, Martha Kane, Barry Clayton, Terry Dooley, Todd Harpole and Anne Doucleff.
