At a recent Police Committee meeting for Granite City, Illinois, an agreement with the City of Madison was discussed relating to 911 dispatches and prisoner holding.
After Alderman Tim Elliott called the meeting to order, he turned it over to Police Chief Richard Miller. Miller stated that, currently, Granite City handles 13 percent of Madison’s 911 calls and that Madison has asked for an additional 1 percent. Additionally, Madison wants Granite City to take over some prisoner holding.
While the committee consented to the additional 1 percent, they believed the numbers proposed for the extra billing were inconsistent. Noting that the figure should be $24,000 instead of $12,000, the committee approved the new ordinance.
