The Collinsville City Council recently met to present an award and review real estate and zoning issues.

The City Council for Collinsville, Illinois, recently met to present the 2015 Yard of the Year Award and assess two major ordinances affecting the city.

As the first order of business at the meeting, Mayor Miller presented the 2015 Yard of the Year Award to Renee Taake of 8 Meadowlark Park. He congratulated her by giving her a plaque and gift certificate.

The council then examined an ordinance rezoning real estate owned by the city, located at 1105 St. Louis Road, from B4 Commercial District to R1 Single Family Residential District. After some discussion, Councilman Brombolich made a motion, which was seconded by Councilman Moss, to approve the ordinance. The motion passed unanimously.

The second major ordinance of the meeting dealt with amending the Collinsville Municipal Code, Title 17, Zoning. This amendment would allow certain animals, including chickens, to be kept on private property within city limits. The amendment passed.
