Alton Plan Commission approves request for motion picture, sound recording business

Film

The Plan Commission for the city of Alton met to approve a petition from Thomas Blake and T. Gaynor Blake of GST at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday for a special use permit.

The passing of the petition would allow the duo to operate a motion picture and sound recording business at 115 Market St. and include an isolated control room, a vocal booth, door and window acoustic insulation and a double insulated wall and windows.

The commission asked if there would be bands playing within the studio, and the petitioners answered that there would be different types of recording, from choirs and voiceovers to films and videos.

The commission approved the request unanimously.

Present at the meeting were Chairman Mark Hackworth, John Rain, Joe Blair, Clayton Gary Doerr, Terry Dooley, Todd Harpole, Martha Kane and James Rogalsky.
