Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) records show that 76.9 percent of Brussels High School's (BHS) 2015 graduating class enrolled in college within 12 months of graduation.

The 2015 state average for students in public schools was 70 percent.

For BHS, its college enrollment rate remains unchanged since 2014.

Among other high schools in Metro East, the Class of 2015 college-enrollment rates at Edwardsville High School (66.8 percent), Highland High School (56.5 percent), Central Community High School (50.0 percent), Carlinville High School (49.1 percent), Calhoun High School (46.2 percent), Cahokia High School (8.9 percent), Southwestern High School (40.8 percent), Lebanon High School (43.2 percent) and Mascoutah High School (60.0 percent) were all lower than that of BHS.

The data, collected by the National Student Clearinghouse, includes two- and four-year colleges.

Enrollment at BHS in 2015 was 67; six (8.96 percent) were seniors.

ISBE said zero percent of BHS seniors were "college ready" in 2015, vs. an average of 46 percent statewide.

All students who score a 21 on the ACT qualify as "college ready."

BHS students did better in reading (0.0 percent) and science (0.0 percent), and worse in English (0.0) and math (0.0).

Zero percent of BHS students were college ready in all four subjects, ISBE said.
