Wake Forest ends SIUE soccer team's NCAA Tournament run

The Southern Illinois-Edwardsville men's soccer team's NCAA Tournament run ended with a 2-1 loss to No. 2 Wake Forest in a third-round game Sunday in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, according to siuecougars.com.

The Cougars finish the season with a 10-5-7 record, with the team's 14-game win streak ended as well.

SIUE tied the game at 1-1 when senior defender Austin Ledbetter scored off a rebound with about four minutes left in the first half.

However, Wake Forest junior midfielder Jon Bakero scored in the 72nd minute for the game-winning goal. It was his second score of the game.

SIUE goalkeeper Kyle Dal Santo had four saves on the night.

Wake Forest had 24 shots in the game to SIUE's six, including a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal.

It was the final Cougar game for seniors Andrew Kendall-Moullin, Jason Hackett and Ivan Gutierrez.
