Brock Weimer, a catcher for the Cougars of Southern Illinois at Edwardsville, has earned an Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week honor, the school's website reported recently.

Weimer, a sophomore from Edwardsville, batted .545 in 11 at-bats — all six of his hits were home runs — in four games from April 11-15, with three walks for a .667 on-base percentage and 2.182 slugging percentage. He had three two-homer games during the week.

Weimer drove in six runs, four of which came on a grand slam, against Morehead State on April 15 in Morehead, Kentucky. For the week, he had 12 RBIs and scored six runs.

For the season through April 17, Weimer has 13 homers, ranking him 10th in the NCAA and earning him the third-highest single-season total in SIUE's program history.
