City of Granite City Downtown Committee met March 21.

Alderman Petrillo called the Downtown Committee Meeting to order. 

Petrillo turned the meeting over to the Mayor to discuss Article VIII, Section 1, of the Illinois State Constitution of 1970-use of public funds for public purposes-advertising on public property. 

Mayor stated this is a way for local businesses in the city to advertise at no charge. This would promote stay home buy home. We could go to Nameoki Commons and Bellmore Village they could make a video for the businesses and then the video would be played at the Movie Theater. 

Discussion by the Mayor, Council and the Attorney about the legalities and the concerns of the city advertizing for the local businesses at the theater. 

Motion by McDowell, second by Petrillo to allow the mayor and the attorney to promote city businesses; a video would be made by the businesses at their own expense and the movie theater would promote the business. All Voted Yes. Motion Carried. 

Motion by Petrillo second by McDowell to adjourn the Downtown Committee Meeting to order. All Voted Yes. Motion Carried.
