Village of Pontoon Beach Committee met March 14.
Here is the minutes as provided by the committee:
New Business
1. Acoustic in the Park
Mayor Pagano updated the Committee on the progress of the Acoustic in the Park nights to be held at the Randall D. Dalton Veteran's Park and distributed the flyer that will be used during the 2017 events.
2. 2017 OctoberFeSt
The dated selected for the first annual OctoberFest has been determined to be Saturday, October 14, 2017 which will be held at the Randall D. Dalton Veteran’s Park. The event is scheduled from 10:00 am through 10:00 pm and will include a band on the main stage that evening. Mayor Pagano advised that he has been in contact with the appropriate people for the organization of a Fall Cop 5-K Run to be held the morning of the event. This event should bring in a great number of participates for not only the Run but for the OctoberFest event as well.
Mayor Pagano assigned the following Committees for the event:
Vendors - Linda McFarland and Beverly Hopper Pumpkin Carving - Linda McFarland and Beverly Hopper Trash and Bathrooms - Chris Hankins
Balloon Glow - Mike Pagano Alcoholic Beverages - Terry Kreher and the Long Lake Volunteer Fire Department Bounce Houses - Terry Kreher
Parking-Steve Freese
Trophies for Pumpkin Carving - Brad Eavenson Rides (pony, small carnival type rides, etc.) - Terry Kreher
In addition, Mayor Pagano asked that consideration be given for the purchase of wrist bands for any children's rides associated with the event.
The entire Committee agreed that this event would be extremely successful and beneficial to the overall continuing promotion of Pontoon Beach.
3. 2017 Party. At the Beach
Mayor Pagano gave a brief update on the status of securing musical bands for this year's event. He asked Terry Kreher about the possibility of securing the carnival again or even the possibility of substituting children’s rides or other replacement carnival rides. Terry will research and advise the Committee accordingly.
Harlon Keel will begin the process of notices to local businesses regarding this year's event, advertising, etc. Hopefully, the letters, etc. will go out prior to April 15, 2017.
4. Pontoon Beach Official Facebook Page
Beverly Hopper will be in charge of setting up and maintaining an official Pontoon Beach Facebook Page. She will notify the Committee when the page is ready to launch.
Mayor Pagano advised that the Committee would reconvene on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 following the regular Board meeting to continue discussions regarding these topics.
With no further business being presented, a motion was made by Chris Hankins, seconded by Brad Eavenson, to adjourn. The meeting was closed at 8:05 pm.
