City of Belleville Electrical Commission met April 24.

Here is the minutes provided by the Commission:

Meeting called to order at 6:03 p.m. by Chairman Larry Glaenzer

Chairman Glaenzer appointed JP Penet to serve as acting recording secretary in the absence of Gary Scheerin.

Approval of Minutes

The minutes of the March 27, 2017 meeting were reviewed and approved with the following corrections:

1. Lane Valente Electric was given verbal warning, not a "warning citation" when found working without a permit.

(Nspectors Report)

o For the month of MAR 2017, there were 61 Housing and 69 Other inspections, for a total of 130 Electrical inspections.

Inspector Bassler remains off duty for medical recovery, but expects to be back on duty beginning in May. Part-time Inspector Voss had no items of concern for inspector Bassler to bring to the Commission.

Unfinished Business

Chairman Glaenzer asked for an update on Ray Page allowing another electrical contractor to perform work under his license & permit. Mr. Page was given a stern warning and instructed that further similar actions would result in citations and possible suspension of his electrical license.

New Business

The Commission discussed the list of candidates approved to take the Thompson Prometric Master Electrical test.

Discussion was also held regarding the additional information supplied by Sabrina Westfall to support her application. Commission members agreed the supporting information was sufficient and will request for the Housing Office to send Ms Westfall a letter stating she is approved to challenge the exam, sponsored by the City of Belleville.

Discussion was held regarding candidates that failed to show up for the application interview,

Discussion was held regarding communications from Inspector Bassler to electrical contractors to notify them of updated inspection requirements and priorities. His proposed memos with minor corrections, were reviewed, with no changes suggested by the Commission. Chairman Glaenzer will request Housing Office to send them out to all electrical contractors.

Discussion was held regarding failure of Joe Jarvis to pass the Prometric exam. Brian Jarvis retains the license for the Company.

Discussion was held regarding the recodification of the adopting ordinance for the National Electric Code (NEC), difficulties with Prometric no longer offering the 2005 exam, and whether to update to a more current version of the NEC. Chairman Glaenzer will check with Housing Director Sabo to review previous Commission meeting minutes. Request placing on next meeting agenda to discuss updating the ordinance.
