City of Alton Civil Service Commission met July 19.

A regular meeting of the Civil Service Commission was called to order at 8:15am on July 19, 2017, at
Alton City Hall, 101 E. Third Street, Alton, Illinois.
Members Present: Vicki Searles-Williams, Terry Bristow,
Members Absent: Jonas Janek
Staff Present: Civil Service Attorney Patrick King
Guests Present: Deputy Police Chief Terry Buhs and Lieutenant Jarrett Ford
A motion was made by Ms. Williams and seconded by Mr. Bristow to approve the minutes of the
regular meeting on June 21, 2017. Motion passed.
Deputy Police Chief Terry Buhs and Lieutenant Jarrett Ford discussed with the Commission the
suggestion of changing the Civil Service Rules in regards to Police Officer hiring practices. The
Commission discussed the topic. Ms. Williams made a motion to table the discussion until the next
meeting. Terry Bristow seconded the motion. Motion passed.
PFC Marcos Pulido’s Promotion to Sergeant was signed.
Requisition for Police Officer was signed.
With no further business, Mr. Bristow made a motion, seconded by Ms. Williams to adjourn at 9:10am.
Motion passed.
