City of Alton Climate Protection and Energy Efficiency Committee met June 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

A meeting of the CPEEC was called to order at 4:00 p.m., June 5th, 2017 , at Alton City Hall, 101 E. Third Street, Alton.

Members present: Jeff Dale, Alderman David Boulds, Wayne Politsch Zeke Jabusch, Deanna Barnes

Welcomed Deanna Barnes (Deputy Director of Development- Alton) as a new member to the “cool cities” committee. Discussed a brief history of the cool cities goals and issues.

Adam and Deanna will attend the June 7th Ameren Energy Efficiency for Business workshop. Will fill us in at the next gathering.

Handouts on the API Solar proposal for the police department.Adam will explain in detail at a later time.

Jeff will continue to identify brown fields in our area and explore ways of utlizing the land. Continues to monitor the additions of charaging stations for electic vehicles.

Invited members of the committee to attend the screening of the documentary “From the Ashes” (June 25).community life after coal powerplant closings.

Brief overview of Alton water treatment plant biogas/solar proposal.

Our July meeting was set for the 4th (holiday) and several members were on July trips so we decided on a July recess. Next meeting on 8/1/2017.
