Analysis: High Mount administrators rank 452nd in state for average pay

Administrators in High Mount School District 116 earn an average of $99,850 per year, ranking 452nd out of 864 districts in Illinois, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The 2020 average is 7.3 percent higher than in 2016 and 9.7 percent higher than in 2011. District administrators make 10.3 percent less than the state average of $111,293.

Administrator salaries depend on the district's size, location and resources, as well as the individual's level of experience and education, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

The High Mount School District in Saint Clair County enrolled 375 students in 2019-2020. There is an average of 188 students for every administrator, compared to a statewide ratio of 171 to 1.
