City of Edwardsville Human Relations Committee met March 6.

Members Present- Dave Boyer, Anya Covington, Brian Pezza, Tabitha Crow, Yolanda Crochrell
Others present-James Arnold, Amanda Tucker, Cathie Hensley, Chief Fillback
Called to order- 5:02
Approval of minutes- David Boyer, second by Yolanda Crochrell
Communication-
- Violet Evans included handout for Lincoln school Alumni foundation Trivia Night
- Amanda Tucker explained current numbers situation with HRC. We need at least 8 committed members (what we currently have), max is 11. Five is considered a quorum. If no quorum by 5:10, meeting will be cancelled. Can't have informal meeting. Mayor Risavy is actively asking, promoting in City Newsletter and Social Media.
Administrative-
Election Secretary- moved to next meeting
Race Relations & Equality Survey Next Steps
- Survey result discussion was very good. It was decided the HRC will break out the results into 3 different areas of concentration. All the questions from survey were assigned to the 3 buckets below.

о Housing (May)
о Public Safety (June)
- Amanda Tucker gave update on current City Employee break down by sex and race.
New Business
Police community Forum-Review
- Chief passed out copy of presentation used at forum.
- 35 people attended, Anya asked was it considered a success, fairly in line vs 2020, David Boyer mentioned we need to advertise hiring numbers if improving on diversification requirements.
- Chief explained differences between New Hires & Lateral officers. Ongoing process of hiring
- Chief did a great job of explaining requirements of new recruits, fielded several questions from
HRC
- Ask HRC members to spread word about hiring and police youth academy
- future open house and another food drive by Edwardsville Police department
