City of Fairview Heights City Council met Feb. 6.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The regular meeting of the Fairview Heights City Council was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Mayor Mark T. Kupsky in the City Council Chambers, 10025 Bunkum Road, Fairview Heights, IL and also conducted virtually for guest attendees and City Council members per Resolution 4391-2021 with the Pledge of Allegiance and Invocation by City Clerk Karen J. Kaufhold. 

ROLL CALL 

Roll call of Aldermen present: Aldermen Ryan Vickers, Bill Poletti, Denise Williams, Frank Menn, Josh Frawley, Barbara Brumfield, and Harry Zimmerman. Alderman Anthony LeFlore and Brenda Wagner were absent excused. Aldermen Pat Peck was absent- unexcused. City Clerk Karen Kaufhold and Attorney Andrew Hoerner were present. 

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION 

None 

CONSENT AGENDA 

Alderman Williams moved to approve the January 16th City Council minutes. Seconded by Alderman Frawley. 

Roll call on the January 16th City Council minutes showed Aldermen Vickers, Poletti, Williams, Menn, Frawley, Brumfield, and Zimmerman voting "Yea". Aldermen Peck, LeFlore, and Wagner were absent. Motion passed with 7 yeas and 3 absent. 

COMMITTEE REPORTS 

The Mayor announced that the next Operations & Administration Committee meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, February 14th, at 7:00 P.M. 

COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE MAYOR 

Mayor Kupsky began by notifying everyone that the City Clerk's office has moved, and a new window will be added to the City Clerks' lobby wall. Former City Clerk's Office location is now the Finance (Receivables) and Land Use Developments. Residents will now be able to have all services available in the front lobby area. The Mayor announced Honda Power Sports Store, located in the former Lou Fusz location will open in May 2024. Starbucks coming soon in place of the demolished Steak 'N' Shake. The Police Department Annual Awards hosted last night for Officers recognition. New K9 "Officer River" was sworn in, a black lab for tracking, drugs, and public service. Mayor also mentioned the hire of a new Economic Development Coordinator, Heather Hinson. The Land Use & Development Department is in the process of filling two positions (Clerk I and Clerk II). 

COMMUNICATIONS FROM ELECTED OFFICIALS 

None 

UNFINISHED BUSINESS 

Proposed Ordinance No. 01-24, an Ordinance providing for the vacating of a tract of land known as "Stonewolf Trail Island" and also providing for the recording of a copy of this Ordinance, together with an accurate map in the Recorder of Deeds Office and filing of same in the County Clerk's Office in St. Clair County. Motion by Alderman Poletti. Seconded by Alderman Brumfield. Proposed Ordinance No. 01-24 was read for the second time. 

Roll call on Proposed Ordinance No. 01-24 showed Aldermen Vickers, Poletti, Williams, Menn, Frawley, Brumfield and Zimmerman voting "Yea." Aldermen Peck, LeFlore, and Wagner were absent. 

Proposed Ordinance No. 01-24 passed on 7 yeas and 3 absent. 

Proposed Ordinance No. 01-24 now becomes ORDINANCE NO. 1961-2024. 

NEW BUSINESS 

Proposed Resolution No. 03-'24, a Resolution approving a Special Use Permit and Site Development Plan for 140 Market Place, within the "PB" Planned Business District to allow the operation of a Medical Supply Office. 

Motion by Alderman Zimmerman. Seconded by Alderman Poletti. 

Roll call on Proposed Resolution No. 03-'24 showed Aldermen Vickers, Poletti, Williams, Menn, Frawley, Brumfield, and Zimmerman voting "Yea". Aldermen Peck, LeFlore, and Wagner were absent. 

Proposed Resolution No. 03-'24 passed on 7 yeas and 3 absent 

Proposed Resolution No. 03-'24 now becomes RESOLUTION NO. 4537-2024 

Alderman Poletti moved to adjourn. Seconded by Alderman Williams. Motion carried. 

Meeting adjourned at 7:14 p.m.
