State Senator Erica Harriss recently collaborated with the City of Wood River and the Wood River Police Department to host the Community Shred Event and Clean Up Day. The event welcomed over 200 carloads, with Senator Harriss expressing her gratitude to the participants, "I want to thank everyone who came out and supported our great event." She also attributed the successful turnout to the season, stating, "Thanks to the warmer weather and the start of the spring cleaning season, we had another great turnout."

Attendees at this year's event had the opportunity to utilize a shred truck for disposing of unused confidential documents. The event's success was credited to partnerships with various organizations, including Support the Girls Edwardsville, the Metro East Humane Society, Glen-Ed Pantry, Lions Club, City of Wood River, and the Wood River Police Department.

Acknowledging the support received, Senator Harriss expressed her gratitude towards the Wood River Police Department and city marketing consultant Kristen Burns, saying, "I want to thank the Wood River Police Department for their assistance in setting up and providing tables, traffic cones and barricades for the event, as well as city marketing consultant, Kristen Burns. This event wouldn’t be possible without the support from our local community."

In addition to the Community Shred Event and Clean Up Day, Senator Harriss also participated in a community cleanup day for Earth Day, joining Madison County officials in picking up trash along Interstate 255.
