U.S. Representative Mike Bost of Illinois’s 12th District voted in favor of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2026. The legislation, passed on December 10, 2025, authorizes $900.6 billion for national defense programs and includes several measures to support military personnel and border security.
The NDAA provides a 3.8% pay raise for all servicemembers and allocates $6 million for hangar improvements at Scott Air Force Base. It also includes over $1 billion aimed at combating drug trafficking and supporting border security operations. The bill fully funds National Guard and active-duty deployments to assist Border Patrol efforts at the southwest border.
Another provision in the act is the permanent repeal of all Department of War Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) offices, programs, and training.
Bost stated, “Supporting our troops and keeping America safe must always come before politics. This national defense funding backs President Trump’s peace through strength approach, secures the southern border, reins in wasteful spending, and gets rid of the DEI and woke policies that have no place in our military. It ensures our servicemembers have the resources they need to do their jobs and I’m proud to support legislation that puts our national defense and our troops first.”
Mike Bost has represented Illinois’s 12th congressional district since defeating William L. Enyart in 2014 with just over half the vote share. He continued his tenure by winning subsequent elections against Charles Baricevic in 2016, Raymond Lenzi in 2020, Brendan Kelly in 2018, and Chip Markel in 2022 by varying margins.
