East Alton School District 13 has announced that Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences will take place on Tuesday, February 24 and Thursday, February 26. The district is using an online program for parents to schedule conference times with teachers.

Parents can access the scheduling program through links that will be posted on the school’s Facebook page, website, and Class Dojo. After selecting their preferred teachers and submitting student information, parents will receive an email with a link to choose available time slots. Once the process is complete, a confirmation email will be sent.

The district serves Madison County and includes East Alton Middle School, Eastwood Elementary School, and Washington Elementary School. More information about the schools in the district can be found at https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/.

East Alton School District 13 had an enrollment of 770 students during the 2019-2020 school year and serves grades pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. The teaching staff consists of 53 teachers with an average salary of $55,361 before pension contributions; about 83 percent are women and nearly 17 percent are men. According to state data, none of these teachers had more than ten absences in a single school year (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).

Demographically, the student population is approximately 87 percent White, nearly 10 percent Black, and less than one percent Hispanic (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). In terms of spending, the district spent $18,471 per student in 2020 for a total expenditure of $14.2 million (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).

Chronic truancy remains a concern for the district: in the 2020 school year there were 152 chronically truant students—about one in five enrolled—according to state definitions that classify students as “chronically truant” if they miss at least five percent of mandated school days without valid excuse (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).

A statement from the district reads: “Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to the opportunity to discuss your child’s successes and goals together.”
