A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Venice City Council regarding specific details about its council members on October 15, 2024. The request was made by Metro East Sun, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

In the request, we sought information about each council member under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. Specifically, we asked for a list of all council members with the following fields: Name, Title, Year Appointed, Term (2 or 4 years), and Term Expire Date.

As a media organization committed to transparency and accountability in public institutions, access to such public records is essential for us at Metro East Sun. This information will enable us to fulfill our professional responsibilities effectively.

We believe that as media professionals involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver. We eagerly await the response from the Venice City Council and will keep our readers updated on any developments.
