The House Republican Majority has issued the following press release:

BELLEVILLE, IL – While investigations, indictments, and arrests continue to plague Democratic politicians, State Representative Jay Hoffman stands silently on the sidelines while joining Democratic partisans in blocking meaningful ethics reform.

“After 29 years in the General Assembly, Jay Hoffman understands how to work the system, but the system isn’t working for Illinois families,” said Jayme Siemer, Executive Director of the House Republican Majority. “With every new criminal act exposed, Illinoisans grow increasingly exhausted with self-serving politicians.”

Madigan is accused of using his elected, political, and professional roles to enrich himself and his cronies. For close ally Rep. Hoffman, Madigan sent $459,000, ensuring Hoffman’s loyalty to the status quo.

“Just last year, Rep. Hoffman was content to ignore swirling allegations and chose Mike Madigan as House Speaker. The days of standing silently while criminals operate the levers of government must end, and the professional politicians who have enabled them must go as well,” Siemer stated.

Hoffman has a long history of ignoring Madigan’s ethical lapses, even contributing to his legal defense last election cycle.
