White students made up the majority of enrollment in Madison County school districts in the 2024-25 school year, according to the Illinois State Board of Education.

Of the 37,209 students enrolled in Madison County school districts, 66.9% were white. African American students were the second-largest group, accounting for 14% of enrollment.

In the previous school year, white students were the most common group in Madison County school districts, representing 68.6% of the student body.

Edwardsville Community Unit School District 7 and Granite City Community Unit School District 9 had the most diverse student body in Madison County, including American Indian, Asian, African American, Hispanic, multiracial, and white students.

In the 2024-25 school year, total enrollment in Madison County school districts dropped 0.5% compared with the previous year.
