The Lewis and Clark Community College women’s tennis team is slated to compete in its sixth straight National Junior College Athletic Association’s (NJCAA) Division I tournament from May 6-11 in Waco, Texas.

The Trailblazers punched their ticket for the tournament with an 8-1 home win over Kaskaskia College in the Region 24 finals on April 21.

The top-seed in the tournament, Lewis and Clark enters play riding a five-game win streak, with Region 24 wins over Blackburn College, Rend Lake College, Fontborne College and two wins over Kaskaskia.

Trailblazers coach Johnna Kinney is relishing the moment of again being in contention.

“I expect the team to perform well at Nationals,” she told Riverbend.com. “There are three returning players that have experienced playing in the national championship, so I expect to have a strong showing.”
