Madison County announces CSBG scholarship opportunity for local students

Madison County is offering the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Scholarship to support local students. The scholarship aims to assist eligible students in their pursuit of higher education.

The county’s schools had a student-to-teacher ratio of 15-to-1 during the 2022-23 academic year, with 37,967 students and 2,502 full-time faculty members across its educational institutions. More information about these statistics can be found at https://www.isbe.net/Pages/Home.aspx.

Teacher absenteeism in Madison County was reported at 38.6% for the same school year, which is higher than the Illinois state average of 35.6%. Details on this rate are available at https://www.isbe.net/Pages/Home.aspx.

Among the county’s 69 schools, Edwardsville High School had the highest enrollment of white students with 1,797 enrolled in 2022-23. Alton High School recorded both the highest number of multiracial students (192) and Black students (538). Kreitner Elementary School had the largest Hispanic student enrollment with 307 students.
