Rep. Mike Bost, U.S. Congressman for Illinois’ 12th district, posted a series of updates on his social media account between October 13 and 14, 2025, addressing Columbus Day, the release of hostages held by Hamas, and the closing date for Military Service Academy nominations.

On October 13, 2025, Bost marked the federal holiday with a message: “Today we celebrate #ColumbusDay and honor the courage and determination that charted a new course in history. His spirit of adventure and perseverance continues to inspire Americans to push boundaries and pursue bold ideas.”

Later that day, he commented on international developments regarding hostages in the Middle East: “This morning, the 20 remaining living hostages held by Hamas were freed, a breakthrough that wouldn’t have happened without President Trump’s bold leadership and tireless diplomacy. Israelis, Americans, and the freedom-loving world can breathe a little easier today. Let’s”

The following day, October 14, Bost reminded constituents about an important deadline: “Reminder: Applications for Military Service Academy nominations through my office close October 31st. Rep. Mike Bost has served in Congress since first winning election in 2014 and has secured re-election in subsequent cycles. In 2022, he won against Chip Markel with 75% of the vote; previous victories include defeating Raymond Lenzi in 2020 with 60.4%, Brendan Kelly in 2018 with 51.6%, Charles Baricevic in 2016 with 54.3%, and William L. Enyart in 2014 with 52.5%.
