Rep. Mike Bost, U.S. Congressman representing Illinois’ 12th district, shared updates on legislative efforts and political issues in a series of posts on his official Twitter account.

On January 22, 2026, Bost announced the passage of a new funding bill by House Republicans, stating, “House Republicans just passed a transportation, health, and security funding package that delivers real results for Southern Illinois, including $7 million I fought to secure for infrastructure and emergency response projects in Clay, Crawford, Jackson, Jasper, and Washington”.

The following day, January 23, 2026, he addressed economic conditions under President Trump: “Wages are rising under President Trump, and hardworking blue-collar Americans are seeing real results. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, mining and logging workers are on track to make $2,200 more a year, with construction workers up $1,400, and manufacturing”.

Later that same day he commented on the March for Life event: “Today, Americans from across the country are coming together for the March for Life to stand up for the unborn and affirm the value of every human life. I’m proud to continue fighting for pro-life, pro-family policies that protect our most vulnerable and support mothers and”.

Bost has served as the representative for Illinois’ 12th district since first winning election in 2014. He has secured reelection multiple times with varying margins: defeating William L. Enyart in 2014 with 52.5% of the vote; Charles Baricevic in 2016 with 54.3%; Raymond Lenzi in 2020 with 60.4%; Brendan Kelly in 2018 with 51.6%; and Chip Markel in 2022 with a significant majority of 75%.
