U.S. Representative Mike Bost, who serves Illinois’ 12th district in Congress, recently shared updates on his activities in Southern Illinois through a series of posts on his official Twitter account.

On February 21, 2026, Bost highlighted his visit to Prairie State Generating Company in Marissa, where he met with Alyssa Harre, Vice President of External Affairs. He stated: “I visited Prairie State Generating Company in Marissa and met with Vice President of External Affairs Alyssa Harre to see firsthand the work being done to power Southern Illinois and the nation. Coal has been a reliable, affordable energy source for generations, and our miners”.

The following day, February 22, Bost discussed efforts to improve mental health services for veterans after meeting with leaders at the Marion VA Medical Center. He wrote: “I met with leadership at the Marion VA Medical Center to discuss how we can strengthen and improve mental health services for veterans in Southern Illinois. It’s a tragedy any time we lose a local veteran to suicide. I never want someone who served their country to feel like they”.

On February 23, Bost acknowledged National FFA Week by referencing his own experience as a former FFA member and support for related legislation: “Happy #NationalFFAWeek, Southern Illinois! As a former FFA member myself, I know firsthand the values of hard work, leadership, and community that this organization instills in our youth. I am proud to cosponsor legislation officially recognizing this week to celebrate FFA”.

Bost has represented Illinois’ 12th congressional district since replacing Gerald Hawkins in 2015. His tenure has included multiple successful election campaigns against opponents such as William L. Enyart (2014), Charles Baricevic (2016), Brendan Kelly (2018), Raymond Lenzi (2020), and Chip Markel (2022).
