There were two offenders convicted of sex crimes released on parole in St. Clair County during the fourth quarter of 2018, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Metro East Sun.

The data shows that both of the released offenders among the parolees were men. The median age of the parolees sentenced for sex crimes was 39. The youngest parolee was a 22-year-old man sentenced in 2018, and the oldest was a 55-year-old man sentenced in 2009.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Christopher W. Korte. He was convicted in 2018 when he was 20 years old. He is now 22.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
