State Representative Amy Elik visited the Braidwood Nuclear Plant in Will County as it prepares for a scheduled refueling of one of its two units. During her tour, Elik observed key areas of the facility.
“It was amazing to see,” said Rep. Elik. “We got to see the massive turbines that power the units and provide power to northern Illinois. We saw the control room and the giant lake which circulates the plant’s water. The security was intense, and the plant was full of professionals who take pride in their jobs.”
Elik, a Republican, has served as representative for Illinois’ 111th House District since 2021, succeeding Monica Bristow.
Rep. Jason Bunting also participated in the tour.
