Illinois State Representative Kevin Schmidt participated in the 2026 Annual Illinois Fire Chiefs Association’s Volunteer/Combination Officer Conference, where he provided a legislative update to attendees. Schmidt received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association (IFCA) for his contributions to the event.

During the meeting, Schmidt and participants discussed issues and needs facing first responders. He expressed gratitude for being able to address those present, stating, “It was a privilege to give a legislative update to the men and women who keep our communities safe.”

Schmidt also acknowledged key figures at the event: “I want to thank the State Fire Marshal Fire Chief, John Winters, and State Fire Marshal Michele Pankow for allowing me to speak at this important event!”

Schmidt, a Republican, has represented Illinois’ 114th House District since his election in 2023, succeeding LaToya Greenwood.
