Rep. Mike Bost, a U.S. Congressman representing Illinois’ 12th district since 2015, recently addressed issues related to federal funding and his role on a congressional subcommittee through social media posts.

On January 28, 2025, Bost refuted claims regarding the freezing of federal funds for key programs: “NO – Federal funding for Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid is not being frozen.” He noted that “YES – Democrat presidents have implemented similar freezes when they’ve entered the White House to ensure funding aligns with their policy priorities.”

The following day, January 29, Bost announced his selection to serve on a significant subcommittee within the House Agriculture Committee: “I’ve been selected to serve on the General Farm Commodities Subcommittee, one of the most important panels within the House Agriculture Committee. We’ll oversee top priorities for Southern Illinois farmers, from insurance and credit to commodities and rural development.”

In another post on January 29, he emphasized his commitment to supporting farmers as legislative discussions around the Farm Bill approached: “With the Farm Bill on the horizon, I’ll be fighting to ensure our farmers have the tools they need to succeed. It’s an honor to represent the backbone of our rural economy!”
