Rep. Mike Bost, U.S. Congressman from Illinois, shared updates on his legislative work and expressed condolences over the passing of a colleague in a series of posts on his official Twitter account.

On January 6, 2026, Bost commented on the death of Congressman Doug LaMalfa: “I was saddened to hear today of the sudden passing of Congressman Doug LaMalfa, whom I served with on the House Agriculture and Transportation committees. Doug was a good man who loved serving the people of his Northern California district. I was grateful to call him a friend.”

The following day, January 7, Bost addressed aviation safety improvements resulting from recent legislation: “The FAA is ramping up replacements of outdated radar systems to keep our skies safe thanks to funds designated from the Working Families Tax Cuts Act. This is just one of the positive impacts coming this year from the Working Families Tax Cuts Act signed into law by President”.

On January 8, Bost highlighted his support for funding bills aimed at infrastructure in Southern Illinois: “Today I voted for a commerce, energy, and interior funding bill that will provide real results for communities across Southern Illinois. I’m proud to say it includes nearly $9 million in funding for seven infrastructure projects I fought for in Congress, including water safety”.

Mike Bost has represented Illinois in Congress since first winning election in 2014. In that year he defeated William L. Enyart with 52.5% of the vote; he subsequently won re-election against Charles Baricevic in 2016 with 54.3%, Raymond Lenzi in 2020 with 60.4%, Brendan Kelly in 2018 with 51.6%, and Chip Markel in 2022 with 75%. These consistent victories reflect sustained support within his district.
