Rep. Mike Bost, who represents Illinois in Congress and serves as Chairman of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, shared updates on recent legislative initiatives and meetings via his Twitter account in January 2026.
On January 12, Bost highlighted new federal funding for rural healthcare in Illinois, stating, “Thanks to the Working Families Tax Cuts Act I voted for last summer, the Trump Administration has awarded Illinois over $193 million through the Rural Health Transformation Program. More than 1.6 million ruralIllinoisans will feel the positive impact of this new funding stream” (January 12, 2026).
Later that day, Bost posted about his engagement with a veterans’ advocacy group: “Mission Roll Call does incredible work supporting our veterans and first responders. I was glad to join them to share an update on my work as Chairman of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee and talk about how we can keep protecting and serving those who’ve served our country.” (January 12, 2026).
On January 13, Bost reported on discussions with biofuel stakeholders: “Great meeting with Growth Energy and Illinois ethanol producers to discuss expanding year-round access to E15, a fuel blend made with more homegrown American ethanol. I support an all-of-the-above approach to American energy independence, and biofuels like ethanol help lower” (January 13, 2026).
Mike Bost has held his congressional seat since defeating William L. Enyart in the 2014 general election. He subsequently won reelection against Charles Baricevic in 2016, Raymond Lenzi in 2020, Brendan Kelly in 2018, and Chip Markel in 2022.
