Rep. Mike Bost, who represents Illinois’ 12th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on his social media accounts highlighting local events and commemorations relevant to his constituents in Southern Illinois.
On February 23, 2026, Bost marked National FFA Week by reflecting on his own experience with the organization and expressing legislative support for its recognition. He wrote: “Happy #NationalFFAWeek, Southern Illinois! As a former FFA member myself, I know firsthand the values of hard work, leadership, and community that this organization instills in our youth. I am proud to cosponsor legislation officially recognizing this week to celebrate FFA” (posted February 23, 2026).
Later that same day, Bost commemorated a significant moment from World War II: “On February 23, 1945, American Marines raised the U.S. flag atop Mount Suribachi in Iwo Jima in one of the most iconic moments of World War II. The image became a symbol of American resolve, but it came at a tremendous cost, with thousands of brave service members giving their” (posted February 23, 2026).
On February 24, 2026, Bost announced upcoming opportunities for constituents to engage directly with his staff regarding federal services. He stated: “My staff will be hosting mobile office hours across Southern Illinois this March so you can speak with our casework experts face-to-face with comfort and convenience. Please visit with any questions you may have regarding veterans’ benefits, Social Security, Medicare, the IRS,” (posted February 24, 2026).
Mike Bost has served as the representative for Illinois’ 12th district since replacing Gerald Hawkins in 2015. In recent election cycles he has maintained strong electoral support: winning against William L. Enyart in 2014 with over half the vote; defeating Charles Baricevic in 2016; Raymond Lenzi in 2020; Brendan Kelly in 2018; and Chip Markel most recently in 2022.
