Rep. Mike Bost, U.S. Congressman representing Illinois’ 12th district, recently highlighted his engagements across Southern Illinois through a series of posts on his official social media account.
On February 21, 2026, Bost recognized the achievements of local students nominated to service academies at an event in Mt. Vernon. He wrote, “It was an honor to recognize the outstanding young men and women from Southern Illinois nominated to our nation’s service academies at our Service Academy Nomination Reception in Mt. Vernon tonight. These students have shown incredible academic achievement, leadership, and a”.
Later that day, Bost reported on his visit to Prairie State Generating Company in Marissa where he met with company leadership. In his post dated February 21, 2026, he stated, “I visited Prairie State Generating Company in Marissa and met with Vice President of External Affairs Alyssa Harre to see firsthand the work being done to power Southern Illinois and the nation. Coal has been a reliable, affordable energy source for generations, and our miners”.
On February 22, 2026, Bost discussed efforts to improve mental health services for veterans following a meeting at the Marion VA Medical Center. He posted, “I met with leadership at the Marion VA Medical Center to discuss how we can strengthen and improve mental health services for veterans in Southern Illinois. It’s a tragedy any time we lose a local veteran to suicide. I never want someone who served their country to feel like they”.
Mike Bost has represented Illinois’ 12th district since replacing Gerald Hawkins in Congress in 2015. Over several election cycles—including victories over William L.
