On June 17, 2025, Rep. Bost announced that his offices are seeking motivated individuals from Southern Illinois for their fall paid internship program. He emphasized the value of this opportunity by stating, “A congressional internship is a great way to learn about the legislative branch firsthand, and I’d encourage anyone with a passion for public service to apply.”
The following day, on June 18, 2025, Rep. Bost highlighted a report from the Council of Economic Advisers regarding legislation known as “One Big, Beautiful Bill,” backed by former President Trump. According to Rep. Bost’s tweet, “the Trump-backed ‘One Big, Beautiful Bill’ will be a massive win for the American people,” noting its benefits such as delivering significant middle-class tax cuts and increasing take-home pay.
On June 19, 2025, Rep. Bost recognized Connor Gerrish from Wayne City as this year’s recipient of the Congressional Award Gold Medal—the highest honor given by Congress to young Americans. In his tweet acknowledging Gerrish’s achievements through volunteer work at local shelters and other initiatives, Rep. Bost remarked that Connor is “a shining example of what hard work and initiative can achieve.”
Mike Bost has served in Congress since replacing Gerald Hawkins in 2015 after previously serving in the Illinois House of Representatives from 1995 to 2015 and on the Jackson County Board from 1984 to 1988.
