State Representative Kevin Schmidt announced on May 4 that he has donated his legislative pay raise to the Mascoutah Food Pantry and Concerned Christians, organizations serving families in need in the 114th District.

Schmidt said he voted against the legislative pay raise and has pledged to give it to local organizations each month. For April, he contributed essential food items such as sugar, brown sugar, cooking oil, and egg noodles. “Helping the community is a priority of mine, and I’m proud to support local food pantries that serve families in need,” Schmidt said. “When communities come together to support one another, it makes a real difference.”

The Mascoutah Food Pantry is run by Concerned Christians, a coalition of area churches providing food assistance and emergency services for residents of Mascoutah and surrounding areas. The pantry is located at 17 West Main Street in Mascoutah and offers a drop-off box for donations on the north side of its building.

Schmidt represents the 114th District in Illinois State House after being elected in 2023 as a Republican; he succeeded LaToya Greenwood according to Rep. Schmidt’s website.

More information about food pantries can be found on Rep. Schmidt’s website or by contacting his office at (618)-215-1050.
