St. Clair County taxpayers paid just over $2.9 million in Metro-East Transit District Sales Tax in May, according to Illinois tax records.

This figure marks a noticeable decrease from the previous month, when Metro-East Transit District Sales Tax collection stood at approximately $3.1 million.

Over the past 12 months, St. Clair County’s residents have collectively paid a total of $32.2 million in Metro-East Transit District Sales Tax.

The Metro-East Transit District Sales Tax, a crucial revenue stream, is primarily allocated for other taxing jurisdictions’ use.
