Today, a visit was made to the 114th District, including stops at Vincent Gray Academy and Millstadt Community School. At Vincent Gray Academy, which has been providing alternative high school education for high-risk young men and women in Metro East St. Louis since 1980, over 425 students have graduated. During this visit, diplomas were handed out to new graduates.
The visit also included a session with the Millstadt 6th Grade Class, which features the son of the visiting State Representative. Discussions covered the history of Millstadt and insights into the role of a State Representative in the General Assembly.
Additionally, there was an opportunity to speak with the 8th grade civics class in Millstadt about legislative processes such as how a bill becomes law and filing witness slips. The importance of protecting the constitution was emphasized, along with encouraging students to engage more in community service.
