Madison County Planning and Development Committee discussed important new business topics at recent meeting

Meeting

The Planning and Development Committee for Madison County, Illinois met yesterday to hear the planning coordinator’s report and cover a long list of old and new business topics.

After approving the minutes of its Nov. 16 meeting, the committee discussed the planning coordinator’s report. Next, it turned to old business. It reviewed several amendments, one to a resolution authorizing the demolition of unsafe and blighted buildings and one on the conditions of variance approval for Resolution Z15-0021.

On the new business front, the committee considered a number of resolutions. Resolution Z15-0096, a petition on behalf of Brian Williams, requested a special use permit in order to operate a dog kennel on site. Resolution Z15-0102, put forth by St. Paul Lutheran Church, requested variances to erect a sign will have 72 square feet of sign face per side. This is more than the allowable 24 square feet.

The Planning and Development Committee oversees the planning and development department, and serves as the liaison with the Zoning Board of Appeals and County Regional Planning Commission. Bill Meyer is the committee’s chair. Committee members include Jack Minner, Brenda Roosevelt, Brad Maxwell, Kelly Tracy, Robert Pollard and Helen Hawkins.
