Alton City Council assessed officer reports and various other resolutions at its recent meeting.

The City Council for the City of Alton, Illinois, met recently to hear officer reports and examine a host of pressing resolutions and issues.

The council first heard reports from its officers. The Animal Control Officer delivered a monthly report for November and December. The Department of Building and Zoning gave a monthly report for December as well as an annual report for 2015. The Fire Department presented the monthly fire damage report for December as well as an estimated fire loss report for December.

Pressing resolutions discussed at the meeting included a resolution allowing the mayor and appropriate officials to execute a temporary construction easement for a needed sidewalk on behalf of the city and a resolution allowing for demolitions at various locations by the Building and Zoning Department.

Mayor Brant Walker presided over the meeting, along with City Clerk Mary Boulds and City Treasurer Cynthia Roth. Alderpersons present at the meeting included Jim Ryan, Carolyn MacAfee, Mike Velloff, Alice Martin, Charles Brake, Gary Fleming and David Boulds.
