The Southern Illinois-Edwardsville men's and women's cross-country teams took second place in their divisions at the Eastern Illinois University Walt Crawford Open on Friday, Sept. 2, in Charleston, Illinois.
According to siuecougars.com, the Cougars scored 43 points, second to the host school's 33 points. Southern Illinois-Carbondale was third with 53 points, and Evansville was fourth with 98 points. In cross-country meets, the team with the lowest point total wins.
Individually, SIUE's Keith Meyer was second overall, finishing in a time of 25 minutes, 9.82 seconds.
Also for SIUE, Benjamin Scamihorn was eighth in 25:59.81, Tyler Owens was 17th in 26:29.25, Austin Woodard was 28th in 26:48.66, Landon Skelly was 43rd in 27:36.42, and Anthony Holshouser was 60th in 27:56.18.
On the women's side, the Cougars had 48 points to EIU's 17. SIU-Carbondale was third with 76, and Evansville was fourth with 92 points.
SIUE's Erin Kennedy was fifth in 18:25.84, Haley Miller was 11th in 18:34.61, and Jess Clarke was 21st in
18:55.12. All three runners turned in career-best times.
Also for the Cougars, Allie Sweatt was 33rd in 19:13.39, Aly Goff was 48th in 19:24.32, and Keri Burmester was 68th in 19:44.30.
