The 1979 Lewis and Clark Community College volleyball team, which dominated in-state competition and played in the national tourney, was recently selected for induction into the school's Trailblazers Athletics Hall of Fame, according to a news release on www.lc.edu.
That edition of the Bucks had a 32-0 state record and claimed the state championship.
Lewis and Clark beat six other Illinois junior-college teams over the course of two weekends in Champaign that season to claim the state championship.
Lewis and Clark's Tina Strack and Angela Mendez earned all-tourney honors.
The state championship earned the Bucks the No. 9 seed in the 20-team national tourney, which took place in late November in Miami. Lewis and Clark were in the same bracket as the eventual national champion, Kellogg.
Mendez also earned National Junior College Athletic Association All-American honors.
