The Granite City budget was $50.74 million for its 2015 fiscal year, or $3,899.06 per household.

That's an increase of 14.1 percent from 2014, when the city spent $44.47 million, or $3,417 per household.

Granite has 13,014 households and a population of 29,860.

Since 2001, the Granite City budget has grown by 54.5 percent, from $32.85 million. The city population has fallen four percent over the same period, from 31,101.

Salaries accounted for 32 percent of city spending in 2015. Granite property taxpayers paid $16.25 million for 228 full-time employees and 73 part-time employees.

In 2001, the city had 225 full-time employees and 27 part-time employees, and spent $14.80 million.
