The calls in East Alton included 56 fires - 31 structure fires, three vehicle fires and 13 other fires. The fire department also responded to nine calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.
In all, the department saw $68,520 in fire loss - or about $1,224 per fire.
The department also received 49 false calls, including one malicious call and 48 other false calls.
The calls resulted in four civilian fire-related injuries.
The East Alton Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has seven active employees and eight retired or inactive employees, was $208,651 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $3,726 for every fire in 2016.
