Alton Appearance Review Commission met January 3.

Here is the minutes as provided by the commission:

Members Present: Debbie Schuneman, Mike Doucleff, Barb Gearing, Margaret Hopkins, Kim Lane, Nick Moehn


Members Not Present: Gen Gearing

Others Present: Hugh Halter, Sam Shaw, Building Inspector, Becky Brunaugh, Secretary

A meeting of the Appearance Review Commission was held on Wednesday January 3, 2018. Debbie Schuneman called the meeting to order at 8:03 a.m.

New Business:

Hugh Halter with The Post Commons presented the amended application for 300 Alby St. The sign will remain the same as presented at the December 20 meeting, with the exceptions that

      it will hang vertically, 3” off the wall, with the bottom of the sign to be level with the first floor windows

      it will only read “POST”

Margaret Hopkins made a motion to accept the amended application as presented. Mike Doucleff seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Other Business:

It was discussed that Decaro’s at 602 E. Third and Merle Norman at 110 W. Third have not been before the Commission regarding their signs. Sam will send appropriate correspondence.

There was discussion of a possible ordinance regarding the removal of abandoned signage.

There being no further discussion or comments from the public, the meeting was adjourned at 8:25 a.m.
