O'FALLON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: Scott Credit Union to Open St. Louis Branch

Bank

O'Fallon Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on May 11.

SCU’s 16th Branch Will Be First In St. Louis County

Scott Credit Union is finalizing plans to open its first St. Louis County Branch later this summer.

The credit union, with headquarters in Edwardsville, IL, is finalizing the design for it first Missouri location at the intersection of I-170 and Ladue Road.

The newest SCU location will be the credit union’s 16 branch and will feature an innovative, consultative design to serve members.

“We are excited about our first branch in Missouri,” said Scott Credit Union President & CEO Frank Padak. “We are currently finalizing plans and expect to open late in the summer. It will be an innovative branch that is designed to really help us connect with members who come in to do their banking business.”

“Our new location will make it more convenient for the nearly 7,000 members we have who live in St. Louis County to take advantage of the value we offer,” Padak added. “We also welcome other residents in the county to see why we are a great money-saving alternative.”

The new branch will feature non-traditional teller pods where SCU staff will guide members through their transactions, Padak noted.

“When members come in, we will greet them and be available to meet whatever financial need they have,” he added. “The location will also feature a technology station to help members learn about the technology that SCU offers to make their financial lives simple. We will be able to walk them through how to deposit a check using our app on their smart phone, how to apply for a loan online and how to access their accounts through mobile and online banking.”

Scott Credit union offers financial services for individuals and businesses.

“We offer all of the traditional products and services that the larger financial institutions offer,” Padak noted. “We also offer the technology that helps make banking simple for our members. One example of that is ApplePay on credit and debit cards.”

The new branch also will have mortgage and investment experts on hand to help area residents who are looking to buy a home or need assistance with planning for retirement or on investing their money, Padak said.

“We are looking forward to providing the value that Scott Credit Union offers to people in St. Louis County with our first branch in Ladue,” he added. “Because we are a not-for-profit financial cooperative, we charge less when people need to borrow, pay more on their savings and typically charge less fees for our services. As a credit union, we are simply a better value. We invite people to check us out. We are confident that doing business with us is a smart financial choice.”

Scott Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative that is member owned. The credit union has given $10 million back to members through a bonus dividend and loan interest rebate over the past 10 years.

“Conducting financial business with a credit union saves the consumer real money,” Padak said. “Many credit unions, like Scott Credit Union, offer similar products and services to what the conventional financial institutions have, but we do so with our members’ best interest in mind because we are a not-for-profit cooperative. Plus, we care about the community and we are committed to supporting local efforts through contributions and volunteerism.”

Scott Credit Union has made giving back to its communities a major priority. The local credit union contributed more than $424,000 and its employees volunteered more than 2,400 hours to a variety of local civic efforts throughout the region in 2017.

“We realize that without our members and the communities in which we serve, we would not exist as a financial alternative,” Padak said. “That is why it is so important for us to give back and support the communities in which we have locations.”

Scott Credit Union is also proud to have been named a St. Louis Post-Dispatch Top Workplace for six straight years.

“We serve members every day. It is really important that our people enjoy working here and can pass their positive attitude along to our members in the experience that they provide them,” Padak explained.

Scott Credit Union, which is celebrating its 75th year, is open to anyone who lives or works in a 17-county area, including Madison, St. Clair, Monroe, Randolph, Perry, Franklin, Jefferson, Washington, Clinton, Marion, Bond, Macoupin, Montgomery, Fayette, Effingham, Williamson, and Jackson counties. Anyone who lives or works in St. Louis County, Missouri also can open accounts at SCU. Additionally, anyone active or retired military also can have accounts with Scott Credit Union.

Scott Credit Union currently has 15 area locations: Scott Air Force Base, East Belleville, Fairview Heights, Collinsville, O’Fallon, Edwardsville, Waterloo, Highland, Caseyville, West Belleville, Millstadt, Mascoutah, Troy, Wood River and its Home Office in Edwardsville.
