Report: Highland spent $9,117 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Highland Community Unit School District 5 is down 0 percent from five years ago, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Madison County school district spent $9,155 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $9,117 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 3072 to 2875.

Highland's spending in 2016-17 was 30 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
