Report: Alton spent $11,446 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Alton Community Unit School District No. 11 is up 3 percent from five years ago, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Madison County school district spent $11,090 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $11,446 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 6263 to 6391.

Alton's spending in 2016-17 was 12 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
